Return to Getting Started

This section lists the changes between different versions of the Unifeye Viewer package. Please refer to the FAQ for details regarding the update mechanism/guideline for existing applications using Unifeye Viewer.

Unifeye Viewer from version 3.0 (both Unifeye Viewer Shockwave Xtra and Flash SWC library)

Unifeye Viewer 3.1

Unifeye Viewer 3.1 Shockwave Xtra
Unifeye Viewer 3.1 Flash SWC library
  • Major tracking performance and robustness improvements

  • Refactored the ARCamera class of the UnifeyeViewerToolkit: The tracking resolution is not bound to the camera capture resolution any more. You can initialize the webcam with a high resolution for display and the grabbed camera frame for tracking will be automatically down-scaled to the tracking resolution (which increases the tracking performance).

  • Fixed the issue with returned tracking values when the COS is not being tracked; getTrackingValues() now returns always a zero matrix when a COS/pattern is not being tracked.

  • Added hotspot tracking for detecting motion in defined regions of the camera frame. An example application FlashSimpleGesture is included in the package.

  • Added an example application (FlashARWithAway3D) using the Away3D rendering engine.

Unifeye Viewer 3.0.1

Unifeye Viewer 3.0.1 Shockwave Xtra
  • Bugfix for loading tracking configuration files on a systems where the Windows username contains MBCS (e.g. Japanese) characters

Unifeye Viewer 3.0.1 Flash SWC library
  • The ApplicationConfiguration file for the FlashARFrame example now contains the baseURL parameter (see ApplicationConfiguration).

  • Major tracking improvements for detecting a tracking pattern

  • Bugfix: sometimes the tracking returned NaN values

  • Bugfix: sometimes the tracking delivered the same tracking values although the the tracking pattern was moved (rotated or translated) in front of the camera

  • Several bugfixes in the Unifeye Viewer Toolkit

Unifeye Viewer 3.0

Unifeye Viewer 3.0 Shockwave Xtra
  • Based on the version 1.1.3 (see below)
  • Note: Only one Xtra (the previously known deployment Xtra) is being shipped which implies that only encrypted tracking configuration files can be used. metaio will encrypt your tracking patterns for you before deployment once you purchase the deployment license (Please contact sales@metaio.com).

Unifeye Viewer 3.0 Flash SWC library
  • Initial release

Unifeye Viewer prior to Viewer package 3.0 (only Unifeye Viewer Shockwave Xtra)

Changes from version 1.1.2 to 1.1.3

  • The function for saving screenshots “saveImage()” executed on Windows Vista or later and Internet Explorer 7 or later (in protected mode) will now open a dialog box asking the user for a file location. This is required due to new Internet Explorer security restrictions.

Changes from version 1.1.1 to 1.1.2

  • Improved tracking stability when working without a camera calibration (see also 7.3.1)

Changes from version 1.0 to 1.1

  • Integration of return codes for better error handling
  • Initialization of the Xtra with a tracking configuration file in one call
  • Added a function for saving screenshots
  • Added a function for returning the path to the user’s desktop
