Unifeye SDK Mobile

Introduction

The metaio Mobile SDK has been used to create more than 70 mobile applications running on iOS and Android devices. With over 10 years of experience, ensuring both the current caliber of the technology and the promise of continual advancements in research and development. The world's most advanced AR browser, junaio, was built on the metaio Mobile SDK, and now powers over 10 million mobile, AR-enabled magazines every month.

Key Features

Have a look at metaio.com for comparision of the Free and upcoming Pro version of the metaio Mobile SDK.

Optimized components for mobile hardware: Many libraries and algorithms have been completely rewritten to take the mobile hardware into account. As a result, the metaio mobile SDK is a modular system which is fast and compact.

Rendering features: Supporting OBJand MD2 files including animations. Advanced visual effects through OpenGL 2.0 shaders. Support for 3rd party rendering engines like Unity3D on android and iPhone.

SDK Overview

The metaio Unifeye SDK mobile is implemented in a modular way, providing mobile Augmented Reality functionality based on three low level components:

  • Tracking component
  • Capture component
  • Rendering component

Depending on the user’s background mobile AR development with the metaio Unifeye SDK mobile can be done in different ways.

Application configuration development

For non-programmers the implementation and API details are hidden through a standard application which can be easily configured based on an XML configuration file. Information on XML-based application configuration can be found in Tracking Configuration.

High level API development

For programmers, the functionality of the SDK can be accessed through programming function calls to the High level API (using the C programming language). See the Doxygen Code Documentation for further details.

Attractive roadmap for the future

Some of the features we have in mind:

  • 3D Markerless Tracking
  • Advanced OpenGL 2.0 pipeline, including more shaders
  • Improved speed - pipeline optimization for mobile device performance.
