Unifeye Design supports a special, latency optimized HD camera interface using Blackmagic Design capture cards.
Please note that you need a Unifeye Design HD license to use Blackmagic Design capture cards with Unifeye Design ! (
http://www.metaio.com/contact/)
We are currently supporting the following models (other models might work as well, but have not been tested):
- Decklink HD Extreme PciE
- Decklink HD Extreme 3D
- Decklink HD Extreme 2
- Decklink Intensity
- Decklink Intensity Pro
We have successfully tested with the driver versions 8.0.1 and 8.2. (Desktop Video for Windows)

Once you have installed the driver, the capture card should be listed as image source in Unifeye Design when you click the camera button. You can activate the camera by double clicking the Decklink Video Capture camera symbol.
If you are using an HD format (e.g. 1920x1080) you might notice that the framerate is much lower compared to using a regular webcam with a resolution of 640x480. That is mainly caused by the much higher amount of pixel data that has to processed by the tracking algorithm. If you are using marker tracking you should consider switching the "Tracking Quality" to fast instead of robust.
Trouble Shooting
- Make sure that the HD Design license is on your dongle or activated on your PC
- If you only see a black image, test the camera connection with the Blackmagic Design software first (Media express)
- Check that you have selected the correct input of the capture card in the control panel
- Windows 7: We have noticed problems when the user account control is activated. You can turn it off, by pressing Start and typing uac in the search window. Select Change User Account Control settings and set the level to "Never notify". Press OK.
- Check that you have configured the correct video format (it has to match the current setting of your camera) by using Media Express or graphedit http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd377601(v=vs.85).aspx
- Start Graphedit
- Select Graph => Insert Filters
- Expand the entry Video Capture Sources
- Select Decklink Video Capture and press "Insert Filter"
- Right Click on the box "Decklink Video Capture" and select "Filter Properties"
- Press "Apply" and "OK"
- Right Click on the small box next to Capture and select "Render Pin"
- Press Play in the symbol bar (You should see a live video image from your camera)
- When you switch the format you might have to restart graphedit before you select Render Pin
- You can also store this configuration with "Save as Graph"
Selecting the decklink filter.
Setting the HD format.
Building the graph. (Press play to start)
- If you still get a black image, shut down your PC, unplug the power cable, wait for about 10 seconds and start the PC again
