Extended Sextant Tool

Return to Camera Calibration

The ExtendedSextant is another camera calibration tool provided by the Unifeye SDK. It transforms camera calibration files from an AICON calibration process into a binary file which can be loaded into the Unifeye SDK. The binary file contains the means, variances and covariances of all the camera calibration parameters. When starting the application, a simple GUI is presented to the user (see Figure).

GUI of the Extended Sextant Tool

AICON calibration files with the extension ".ior" can be loaded via the "Add file"-button. Pressing the "Save result"-button starts the calculation and saves the results as binary file at the chosen file location. For the computation of means and variances more than one data-set is needed. Hence the application can only create a binary file when more than one "ior"-file is provided by the user.

The resulting file can be loaded into Unifeye using the ExtendedSextant tool of the Unifeye GUI or directly by calling the appropriate method of the Unifeye ActiveX control.
